What our visitors think
smARTroom - A maker space for all ages
There's what I think, then there's what my daughter thinks...
Mangata has spent several vacation days at SmartRoom days learning about the interplay of science/nature and art. She spends the 30 minute drive home telling me of everything she learned and asking questions about the universe and technology.
One day, I tried to bring her home a little early and she wasn't happy about it! Aimee and Zach are great at redirecting "Hey, M, why don't you write your name in chalk on the sidewalk so everyone knows you were here?" Over spring break, she has played math games that have kept her skills going and she has made new friends who appreciate the same kinds of questions about the world.
I love that my daughter is asking questions, writing poetry and thinking. It's just fun! (and she sleeps well at night)

Our boys had a fantastic time here at Flight Camp last week!
We came home with a full bag of various flying creations, which they spent the rest of the day testing outside. One week later, Duncan asked me when the next Flight Camp session was.
He was super disappointed that it was only a single day, but I assured him we can go back again sometime.

I went in on Thursday with 2 high energy preschoolers. They were getting a little crazy when Aimee directed them to a story, which captivated them. When it was done and they started winding up again they learned the magic that happens when you paint over crayon before moving over to spin art that she then strung up into a mobile which my 3rd old promptly directed me to hang in his room upon returning home! I look forward to many more adventures at smARTroom!

Today was my family's first chance to experience smARTRoom. It was a school holiday, and they went to an afternoon drop off event. Both children had SO much fun! Most notable is my 'non-arty' son. He made rockets and robots and rainbow drawings and is still talking about it with enthusiasm 3 hours after we got home! He is planning his next project already (here, at home!) - and can't wait to go back another day. That is HIGH praise from a 6 year old boy.
